The black Pentax XG-1 Digital Camera is a
far-reaching camera with a 52x optical zoom lens featuring a 35mm
equivalent focal length of 24-1,248mm and a variable aperture of
f/2.8-5.6, providing you with a wide-angle to super telephoto
perspective. For capturing images, the camera features a 16-megapixel
1/2.3" backside-illuminated CMOS image sensor capable of shooting up to
ISO 3200. Also, it has 60 and 30 fps high speed continuous shooting
modes as well as a Sensor-Shift Shake Reduction system for sharp
photographs at super telephoto focal lengths, low-light shooting, and
movie recording.
Composition and playback with the XG-1 is possible with two options,
either the 3.0" 460k-dot LCD or a 0.2" 200k-dot electronic viewfinder.
The camera also features full high definition 1920 x 1080 video
recording at 30 fps and a slow motion 640 x 480p mode at 120 fps. This
speed is available with stills as well with high speed continuous
shooting available at 60 fps at 640 x 480 pixels and 30 fps at 4
megapixels, or 2,304 x 1,728 pixels. Full resolution continuous is
available at 10 fps.
Other capabilities of the camera are macro focusing as close as 0.4" and
a Micro HDMI port that allows for the streaming of video to a TV or
other display. Complementing the XG-1's technology are a High Dynamic
Range mode which creates a single image from three different exposures
and multiple scene modes for shooting. These modes include Digital
Panorama and Face Beautifier and can be used with 19 digital filters for
more creativity. Additionally, the camera records images to SD/SDHC
memory cards and is compatible with Eye-Fi cards.
